Young People

I can laugh because I’ve known sadness. I am fearless because I have been afraid. And I am wise because I’ve been foolish before.

Ok, so for real? Can someone quit all the therapist talk and get to the point?

Here’s you: you’re not happy, you’re irritated or stressed all the time, your pet/uncle/mother/friend died, you’re using weed/alcohol/other drugs, food, or cutting just to deal, you don’t understand why you don’t have friends/a partner/a life, you think maybe you’re gay, bi, or queer, or you’re feeling like you don’t belong in the body you were born in. No, wait, forget that. You hate the body you have and just wish you’d be bigger/smaller/taller/shorter/curvier/more muscular/prettier/smarter/stronger/a different gender.

Or you hate your life and wish you weren’t around anymore and could just disappear.

Maybe you have no problems yourself, but think your parents/grandparents/teachers are jerks and you wish everyone would just leave you alone. Or maybe you wish someone, anyone, would pay attention to you.

You get the point right? The list can go on forever.

If any of these things sound like you, come chat. We’ll cut through the BS and figure out what’s up. And no, in most circumstances (depending on your age and who’s signing the paperwork), I don’t have to tell your folks/caregivers/anyone too much about what we talk about* unless you’d like me to, or it makes sense for you and what I’m helping you figure out.

*I do, legally, have to tell someone if you have a serious plan to hurt yourself or someone else, or if someone’s hurting you.
